Control the center box for the longest!

The Capture & Hold Game

capture & Hold game

Capture and Hold might just be the easiest game to run as a Battlefield operator. It is intuitive from the gamer's point of view as well.

Divide the group into two, roughly equal-sized, teams. Red vs Blue.

Place a Battle Box, set as a "Game Box" in the middle of where you are playing.

When the red team shoots the Game Box the box flashes red. When the blue team shoots the box then it flashes blue.

Whichever team made it flash their color for the longest, wins!

The "Game Box" configuration can be found on the Recommended Options list.

This game can be ready to go in seconds! Place the Game Box in the middle of the playing area, equal distance from each Medic Box. Keep in mind the line of sight, try to place it somewhere the players cannot tag the box from their base, and get everyone moving! This game is ideal for large groups because it can be scaled up easily! Capture & Hold can be played with as few as 3 players (Red vs Blue vs Purple) or as many as 100+ people at once.

For groups with 25+ players, spread out the action with 3 Game Boxes.

Typically this game is played with two teams: Red vs Blue.

Something Paintball Cannot Do

I like the idea of a gaming gun with a long range capability; you can not do this with airsoft or paintball. Also, I like no impact, no contact, and both children and adults can play together, there are the same options for each player.

How To Play The Capture & Hold Game

Place the Game Box in the center of the playing area.

The gamers need to get in reasonably close to trigger the hit, and it can be tagged from any direction.

Set the game time to your standard length. For outdoor operations, this is typically 15 minutes. For indoor or mobile operations, this is often 5 minutes.

If a red team player tags the box it flashes red.

If the blue team players shoot the box then it will flash blue.

The timer inside the box tracked how long each team was in control. At the end of the game time, the team which had control for the most time wins!

The box will flash that team color and the SFX is "blue team is victorious" or "red team is victorious". The master controller will get the message from the box and calculate the winning team.

Playing with 3 Game Boxes

For groups with 25+ players at once, we recommend setting up 3 Game Boxes in a row across the field. Each box should be equally as accessible from the Red Team and Blue Team bases. Instead of winning one box, the team must work together to win at least 2 (out of the 3).

This spreads out the action. Players can choose to go for the left-hand box, down the middle, or flank to the right.

Spreading out the players is great for large groups both for the player experience and in terms of safety.

Who wins? The Master Controller will find out the scores from each box at the end of the game. It works out which team won the most number of boxes. Once done, it asks if you wish to announce the winner. Say "Yes" and all players will get the message that either the Red Team is Victorious or the Blue Team is Victorious.
