Case Study: The Scout Association of Australia (Woodhouse Adventure Park)
Scout groups are always looking for fun new ways to bring kids together outdoors.
They want to be prepared for hands-on adventure. By partnering with Battlefield Sports, Scouts found an easy, exciting live-action gaming system that brings the thrill of video games into the real world. Woodhouse Park has created a safe, screen-free outdoor adventure at camps and jamborees.
Most of all, it teaches teamwork and keeps kids excited to stay in Scouts for years to come!
* Big Groups: 66 Laser Taggers + 4 Game Propos (Battle Boxes) + 1 Master Controller
* Wide Age Groups: Great fun for younger Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, and Venturers/Rovers with adjustable game modes.
* $Zero Royalty Fees: Pay once. No monthly costs or hidden fees.
* Lots of Game Choices: Fun games like 'Capture the Flag' that teach kids to work together.
Scouts has always been about camping, teamwork, and outdoor fun.
But today, Scout leaders face a big problem: screens. Kids and teens spend hours playing video games inside, making it harder to keep them excited about outdoor activities.
This is the challenge Woodhouse Scouts faced.
Located in the scenic Adelaide Hills, just 25 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, Woodhouse is set on 54 hectares of picturesque, gum-studded countryside and offers a range of exciting activities and accommodation options.
The Woodhouse team needed a fun way to bring kids together and keep them coming back to Scouts year after year, especially older kids.
They need an activity that brings the excitement of video games into the real world while building real team skills and keeping them active.
They wanted something new. Woodhouse Adventure Park brought in Battlefield Sports laser skirmish gear.
Gone were the traditional indoor laser tag arenas with artificial walls and neon lights. Instead, equipment is built for wide-open spaces.
Scouts can run through real forests, trees, and hills. Just like their favorite video games, but out in the fresh air. The gear uses safe infrared light instead of paintballs, so there's no mess, no bruises, and no cleanup.
Because the hardware is rugged, wireless, and completely portable, leaders can easily set up games across 54 hectares of natural bushland or right outside a campsite.
Woodhouse Adventure Park has had great success offering school holiday day camps for 5-12 year olds.
UNPLUGGED is a thoughtfully programmed and facilitated ‘drop & go' kids-only day adventure, designed to keep primary school students screen-free, active, and entertained for the whole day.
Outdoor laser skirmish has proven to be a popular drawcard for the UNPLUGGED school holiday program. Laser Skirmish is included in themes such as Adrenalin Rush and Ultimate Woodhouse, which thrill-seeking children often book quickly.
Woodhouse Adventure Park has grown a lot as an accommodation, school camp, and activity provider. The site has recently expanded its offerings with the construction of an architecturally designed conference center, SEEONE, where attendees can enjoy a calm, serene environment away from the hustle and distractions of the City.
SEEONE offers idyllic views of the surrounding creek and countryside. Its interior is customizable to accommodate various setups, comfortably hosting approximately 50 people in a theater-style arrangement or 10-20 people in a boardroom or U-shaped setting.
With the addition of SEEONE, Woodhouse has been able to package laser skirmish into team-building and conference packages, targeting businesses and corporations, and expanding into new revenue areas. Woodhouse Adventure Park has invested in an extensive array of laser tag equipment from Battlefield Sports to cater to a range of events and games.
Congratulations to the team at Woodhouse Adventure Park for winning this year's Gold for the Australian Tourism Awards Unique Accommodation category. More, they also won Silver in Adventure Tourism. Way to go, team!!

The park boasts an extensive array of Battlefield Sports laser tag equipment.

The team recently added six more Cobras to their arsenal due to increased demand.
- 46 Awesome Cobras
- 20 Honey Badgers (HB14)

Beyond the UNPLUGGED School Holiday Program and corporate team-building activities, Woodhouse Adventure Park offers a laser skirmish experience for kids’ birthday parties and school camps/excursions.
Woodhouse Adventure Park is currently upgrading and expanding their laser skirmish arena to a new location within the park. Today, two games of laser skirmish will be playable concurrently.
Adding Battlefield Sports laser skirmish has given Woodhouse a huge boost. It gives campers, Scout groups, and event guests an exciting reason to choose Woodhouse over other outdoor sites. Because the game forces players to work together in the bush, it has become one of the park's top choices for youth camps and team-building groups.
Most importantly, it creates unforgettable outdoor memories that bring families and troops back year after year.
"Laser skirmish is a vital component of our team-building activities. It pushes the team to collaborate, think strategically, and solve problems together, all while enjoying an amazing time outdoors!" said Emily Cordell, General Manager.
"People want to come to Woodhouse Scouts because they are looking for something unique," said Em.
