Glenworth Valley Outdoor Adventures is Australia’s largest horse riding and outdoor adventure center.
One hour's drive north of Sydney, Glenworth Valley is a multi-award-winning, adventure tourism business.
It specializes in horse riding, kayaking, quad biking, abseiling, laser skirmish (outdoor laser tag) and corporate team-building activities.
The center offers camping, horse agistment, and accommodation across its 3,000-acre wilderness property.
Glenworth Valley has been in business for more than 40 years and employs a team of around 100 staff.
The original horse-riding business started with just 10 horses. But within 10 years the business expanded to become the largest horse-riding center in Australia with 200 horses.
Whilst the group is renowned for its horse riding, they have experienced continued growth with expansion into outdoor adventure including quad biking and laser skirmish activities. In 2016 they opened an Events Center to host weddings and corporate and private functions.
Adding Laser Skirmish to the core horse riding offering has been good business.
"We are proud to say we have fully incorporated it into our multiple yearly special events. For example, our Horses’ Birthday Festival and the Glenworth Grazing Festival attract massive international inbound groups. Those events can easily see over 1,000 customers doing laser skirmish in one weekend alone!! Laser skirmish is an activity that keeps gaining momentum regarding its popularity," said Salvador Cordero, Wilderness Adventure Guide.
Glenworth Valley provides the perfect backdrop for an adrenaline-charged game of laser skirmish.
Laser skirmish is a team combat simulation game similar to laser tag that is played outdoors. Laser skirmish is like a live-action video game as players shoot laser tag guns with a harmless infrared beam, with a sensor detecting hits.
The weapons used are realistic in shape and weight and use infrared technology which is detected by sensors on the player’s head and laser tag gun. Each player’s sensors are attached to their laser tag gun so when they are hit, their laser tag gun is automatically deactivated. The first team to deactivate all members of the other team wins. As the laser tag guns use harmless infrared beams, unlike paintball, there’s no mess or nasty bruises.
Laser Skirmish at Glenworth Valley started in 2003 with the Classic System and a small set of 21 units.
In 2014 Glenworth Valley upgraded and expanded its laser tag arsenal to keep up with demand. Glenworth embraced the new digital SATR system.
The new additions to their armory proved popular. Later that year they added some more laser tag guns, specifically:
In 2023, they traded in their old metal taggers and expanded their activity with 40 x Awesome Cobras and more game props, i.e. Battle Boxes.
Battlefield Sports laser tag system works well with other adventure activities because the Laser Tag activity expands the business to entertain a wider audience and broader age group.
The system can only be turned on with the key and be set to a "lock-out" mode so you can set it the way you want and only the Operators can change the settings.
The SATR live gaming system is weather-resistant so you can play in the sun or rain, in the heat or the cold.
