Blayz Tag: A Revolutionary Way to Play Laser Tag Without Guns

Kids wear sleek, lightweight smart wristbands color-coded to their team: Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, or Purple. See which team can score the most points or complete the gauntlet first.

There are no laser tag guns here!

Instead, participants try to tag small, interactive pods scattered around a field or court. These pods light up and make fun sound effects. We called them Blayz Points, like "waypoints".

Learning from 25 years in the Laser Tag business, Battlefield Sports has created an activity that will engage kids ages 5 and up! This is achieved through gaming principles like scoring points, positive feedback with light and sound effects, and a strong focus on team victories.

Blayz Tag allows dozens of participants to engage in the activity at once. Regardless of your team size, no kids will sit bored on the sidelines while waiting for their turn to play!

What is Blayz Tag?

Battlefield Sports is working on a new project: it's laser tag, but not as you know it.

Blayz Tag is a revolutionary take on laser tag that ditches traditional laser tag guns in favor of smart wristbands and interactive pods.

These high-tech wristbands and pods are the heart of the game.

These e-wristbands, equipped with an ingenious beacon and responsive sound effects, communicate wirelessly with the Blayz Tag pods.

There are five activities:

* Flash: a fast-paced game sure to get kids moving

* Hotspots: a great introductory game

* Blayz Hunt: perfect for exploration and teamwork

* Team Time Trial: see which team can run the race the fastest!

* Solo Time Trial: how is your fastest player?

Three Elements of Blayz Tag

The BlayzTag system has three key elements:

• Wristbands called "BlayzBands"
• Smart pods called "BlayzPoints", and 
• a game controller called a "BlayzPad". 

Activity #1: Hotspots

The perfect starter game! This can be played in a sports hall, on an oval, or around buildings.

Everyone is assigned to a team. There are up to five team options: red, blue, green, yellow & purple.

The BlayzPoints are spread around the playing area or field. Click start, and the game begins.

The BlayzPoints will light up at random and stay on until a player tags it with their wristband, AKA a BlayzBand. That player scores a point for their team.

When a point has been scored, the BlayzPoint goes dark... but only for a bit. Eventually the lights turn back on, and another point can be scored. 

To keep the kids moving, though, they must find a different point to tag first.

Play for 5 or 15 minutes, or for a time you set.

Activity #2: Flash

Get the kids running with this fun activity! Each participant gets a BlayzBand. The BlayzPoints are scattered around the field or court. Change the activity from "Hotspots" to "Flash" on your BlayzPad, a dedicated handheld controller.

The BlayzPoints will light up at random. When a pod lights up red, the red team can score points. When it lights up blue, the blue team can score points. And so on.

The kids move as quickly as possible to score as many points as possible for their team. The pods stay on for a "flash". Multiple kids on the same team can earn points on the same "flash". However, one player can only earn one point per flash.

Once players have tagged a BlayzPoint, they must go to a different pod to score another point. This setup encourages teamwork and promotes movement. The risk of collisions is lower because the teams are directed toward different pods.

Players tap their wristband to the top of the BlayzPoint. This allows for many participants at once.

When players reach the pod, their wristbands light up and emit a happy beep, providing positive reinforcement.

The game operates on a sophisticated digital radio network, ensuring seamless communication between wristbands and pods.

Activity #3: Gauntlet

Only as a team can you emerge victorious!

Gauntlet is the perfect system to track how long it takes kids to complete an obstacle course as a team. They can race against another team or the clock. Set up a series of challenges featuring obstacles like a small climbing wall, monkey bars, and jumping blocks.

Pods are set up at the end of each challenge (such as at the top of the climbing wall or at the end of the monkey bars).

Whenever the participant reaches the end, their wristband links up with the pod. Their success is tallied for their team.

Now, it's up to everyone else on their team to do the same! Once the team has completed every challenge, their time is shown on the app.

Activity #4: Team Time Trial

In this game, players are still assigned to a team. Each team is only as good as their slowest runner. Player work together to encourage each other, pushing themselves and working together to each the BlayzPoints.

To finish the trial, every player on the team must tag every point. There are no short cuts here!

With the Team Time Trial activity, you can measure your team's speed across a large running track or between waypoints. Test their skills, leaving no one behind. 

After all, your team is only as good as your worst player! The last player to complete the course determines the time taken.

Your group must work together if they want to win.

As the competitive spirit takes over in this race to the finish line, participants will naturally encourage their slower teammates. Track your players' improvement week by week with the same time trial.

Activity #5: Solo Time Trial

To finish the race, players must tag each point (in any order). There are no short cuts here!
