Laser Tag is a group activity. You need someone to tag!
But what happens when your customers arrive early or when you only have a couple players booked into this time slot? If you're running a Family Entertainment Center (FEC) or Tourist Resort, this is a constant challenge. But Battlefield Sports has the solution!
Well what is Target Tag? In this Laser Tag theme, players cannot tag each other. I hear you say: what?
Well, with Target Tag, your players are tagging targets. There are several different game modes you can use to entertain your patrons. You can place all the players on one team, trying earn a high score together, or face them off against each other as Red vs Blue team.
Target Tag syncs up with the Arcade soundscape with classic Arcade sound effects. Lots of beeps and dings and bomp-bom-boms. Rather than the standard word cues for game play actions the new Arcade SFX offer a set of intuitive sonic elements just like sounds from a retro pinball parlor.
Target Tag works best with short, fast-paced games. Usually these last about 3 minutes.
Watch as the scores go up with the SATR-GO app (or use your controller to track the scores). Gamers love to know they are winning after all! And if they are falling behind their rival, well that's motivation to getting blasting.
Dash back and forth with this game that makes use of space. Set up the Flash boxes around your arena. Players will be running around, exploring and having fun as they try to score as many points as possible!
What's the game about? The Flash boxes will light up either red, blue, or purple. When it's red, the red team can score a point. When it's blue, the blue team can score a point. Each player can earn one point from a "flash" (when the box lights up). But, if their teammate comes to the box too, they can both score a point. This encourages them to work together.
Once a player has tagged a box and scored a point, they need to go to a new box if they want to get another point. Now that gets the players moving!!
This game is one big race. You can implement it as part of a "escape room" style game or run a race with "waypoints". With Gauntlet everyone on the team must get to every single box and tag it. Once they've tagged all the boxes, their team is a 100%. The fastest team wins!
Set up a ring of target which level up each minute. Players start on "easy" where the boxes stay lit up for a long time.
The first player to tag the target gets the point. After a minute, the targets advance to the next level, much harder than the first.
Players will need to move quicker if they want to score points.
Finally, they reach the hardest level! The boxes flash only briefly, but if they can score points here they are sure to earn a high score.
Perfect for small spaces with a small number of participants.
Line up several Quick Targets along a wall and set down a line or barrier where everyone can stand. When the game starts, the boxes start flashing. There are three colours: red, blue, and purple. The faster the flash, the more points you score by tagging it! The first player to tag the Quick Target gets the point.
The best part in all this? You switch everyone over from playing "Target Tag" to playing "Laser Tag" without swapping their taggers. Just update their taggers with your controller (you'll need to be using the Full Controller).
That means, once everyone is ready to head into the arena, you don't need to waste time swapping taggers around.
You can also use the Arcade SFX in your Laser Tag games. Just set the language as "Arcade"! The Arcade sound scheme makes sound effects consistent with traditional arcade games for hits, kills, re-spawns, dead already and game start. The hit/kill sounds have a very short duration.
Player feedback is one of the key drivers in Battlefield Sports' breakthrough patented technology. The SATR system ensured that via a peer-to-peer system gamers KNOW when they get their opponents (or the targets).
In the classic system players of outdoor laser tag often knew when they were hit but not when they tagged their opponent. It was a negative reinforcement scenario.
The new sonic elements are quickly interpreted across many cultures. This is perfect for running events where there are many gamers with different language backgrounds, such as entertaining tourists at a resort or entertaining student groups from overseas.
A balance between difficulty and skill is required to continually engage a gamer in the combat game. As Nolan Bushnell, Founder of Atari, famously said the best games are easy to learn but difficult to master.
As the gamer's skill increases, so must the difficulty of his or her mission, or the player will become bored. But if the skill required is too difficult for a novice, the gamer will likely become despondent.
Battlefield Sports places immense focus on innovation as core to its strategy when developing live gaming technology.
