Twitter Announces a Big Change to its Format

Is Twitter Morphing into Facebook?

Twitter has announced some bold new features.

new twitter imageTo keep up with the Joneses of the social media world Twitter has just announced huge header images, the ability to pin tweets to the top of your feed, a new profile design, and better search filters.

The most obvious change is the huge header image which now can run the full width of your screen.

The new header image is 1500 x 1500 pixels.

If you visit https://twitter.com/battlefieldlive you'll see the new design. (While you are there you might like to follow us!)

Remind you on anything?

Something like Facebook perhaps?

Twitter's own blog says "Moment by moment, your Twitter profile shows the world who you are. Starting today, it will be even easier (and, we think, more fun) to express yourself through a new and improved web profile."

It is, actually, a big change.

One of the cool new features is that Tweets that have received more engagement will appear slightly larger, so your best content will be easy to find.

Plus once the roll-out is complete you will be able to choose which timeline to view when checking out other Twitter profiles.

You will be able to select from:

  • Tweets
  • Tweets with photos/videos, or
  • Tweets and replies.

Twitter says: "This new profile setup is available today to a small group of users. If you’re new to Twitter, you’ll start in with the new profile. In the coming weeks, we will roll out the new features to everyone."

So watch our for the new design on your twitter account.
