Capture & Hold Game

The Battlefield LIVE Capture and Hold Game is an easy game to run. In fact, Battlefield Sports offers you a "Basic Games Handbook" this handbook gives you the most popular and straightforward to run missions. And guess what?

The Capture & Hold game is one of most popular and straight-forward games in our Handbook to run.

A common infantry mission is to securing a specific key area before the enemy does.

The mission is for either team to control some designated objective area. This is best run when the objective is on top of a ridge.

In this scenario one force deploys at one end of the battlefield, this force is known as team bravo. The other force deploys at the other end of the battlefield. This force is known as team alpha.

Usually, both forces are relatively even in force size and capability. Ideally, the hit point values are kept in the low range (2 or 3 hit points). For beginners, this mission is run on 5 hit points.

If a flag is used, the winning team is the team with the most number of survivors within 12 feet (3½ meters) of the flag at mission end.

It is important to point out in the mission briefing that the objective of this scenario is to capture an objective. If you are using a flag as a prop to mark the area, then no-one should run off with the flag.

Typically the two teams start approximately 325 feet (100 meters) from each other and out of sight. Both teams are to equal-distance from the base and out of sight of each other.

The battlefield should have between 10 and 15 feet (3 and 5 meters) width per gamer with a minimum of 325 feet (100 meters).

Normally the mission runs for 30 minutes. In this scenario, each team is guaranteed unlimited re-spawns for the first 25 minutes. Or if you are running a 15-minute version respawns are supplied for first 13 to 14 minutes.

The Battle Box, when set as a medic box will automatically count them.

The team that uses the least re-spawns in the first 25 minutes receives 75% respawns in the last 5 minutes rounded down. The other team receives 50% respawns.

If equal, both teams receive 75% respawns.

The reason for this system is it guarantees everyone plays most of the mission but allows the last 5 minutes of the mission for one team to force a result. Even though there are unlimited re-spawns to the 25-minute mark, there is still a powerful penalty for friendly gamers “dying” so the first 25 minutes is not pointless.

To have the thrill and pressure of a combat game, it’s important to always make it that taking hits and dying, is bad news.

The capture and hold mission (also known as an encounter assault) is an excellent immediate mission and is recommended for all gamers.
